Nice game; really enjoyed it all up until the ending. The chasing scene was not liked whatsoever. Very hard and rage inducing. For me, it made the game much worse. When I finished the game, I was very angry. I hate games where the last parts are for some reason 1000% harder for no reason. No hate; I love giving really honest reviews of how I feel.
I appreciate the honest and fair review! As you've pointed out, we have detected the ending to be a main point of frustration for our players and we are currently working on an update that'll make it less unfair and unfun.
We'll be sure to check out your gameplay to pinpoint the rage inducing bits so we can tinker the ending.
Thanks so much for covering Needle Sleep and taking the time to share your review!
Hi, I just finished playing this game, and regarding this person's comment, I believe I know the part they were struggling with, as I had some difficulty there too.
The area seems to be the part where you have to run around the heart and destroy the eyes while getting chased. Something I experienced was that the mothman felt unbelievably fast at times. This is hard to explain over text, so I will link my youtube video and include that part unedited so you can see how quickly I lost at quite a few points.
I don't usually link my videos in comments, but I'll make an exception here to make it convenient for you. It might take a day or two for me to edit the video though.
So I just uploaded that video, and if you want to see the final chase, I left it in fully uncut so you could see the moments I'm referring to. For context, I think the way I was getting caught was when my pathing around the circle wasn't super tight. It's hard to say though, because a few times it caught me so quickly I'm genuinely not sure how it caught me.
Beyond that, I think this was a great game. The only real problem I ran into while playing was an occasional camera jitter. You can see an example during my first chase. For reference, the jitter was not me making a wild swing with my camera, since I actually prefer a rather low mouse sensitivity. Thank you for the amazing game!
Thanks so much for covering Needle Sleep and for your review. Yea, the Mothman's supposed to get a speed boost every time you clear a set of eyes from the heart, but I think we could've done a better job at communicating that to the player. We'll update the game soon to make it feel more fair.
Also, the camera jitter bug is an interesting one! I'll try to replicate it on my end and try to detect what might be causing it, nice catch!
Thanks once again for taking the time to share your thoughts and making a youtube video of our game, we're glad you enjoyed it!
Hi, Scarlett! Thanks so much for covering Needle Sleep!
It seems though that you covered the previous version, the demo and yea, it's fairly short haha. We just recently finished the game and you can find the final version on our Itchio page or directly on Steam (We got achievements setup if you like hunting those down!). I'd love to see you play the final version if you're interested! Thanks for the post again!
Funny enough I played this while being super sleep deprived but I enjoyed it! I got confused on who put me to sleep because it almost looked like I put myself under but then after editing I noticed it was someone else's hands but I didnt see a face. Great game though! Loved the chase scene!!!
This was a great game. I spent the whole game waiting to be chased (the scariest thing in a game I think) and I wasn't disappointed. Well done, fantastic game.
Congratulations to all the creators of this short horror and action game. The puzzle is very good, the sounds, the graphics are great, it's a 5-star game. Thank you for making Spanish an optional language. I would like the creators of this game to subscribe to my channel, please. Thank you. Greetings from Spain.
I was shocked but glad to see this was a demo, the world brings up so many questions on what's going on, what's the creature, what's real that it really draws you in. Highly recommend and can't wait to see the full release.
Este videojuego contiene todo, un hospital abandonado, una tensión que se puede palpar, una incognita, y mucha sensación de que alguien está siguiendo mis pasos... La verdad que es una obra de arte, continua así, te has lucido, muchos éxitos!!
Really well made game I loved it! I played "Baby Bonny Has a Secret" so I knew the quality was gonna be on par! The hospital vibe was really eerie and the assets were well placed. I wasn't expecting that "thing" at the end even though it makes sense now. Would love to see more of this if you are to continue developing it further. Good luck! ❤️
For being a demo AND for being made for a gamejam this was insanely good! Awesome atmosphere, puzzles, and heart wrenching chasing scene to boot! Made a video on it.
WOW! I really enjoyed this demo! Great ambiance, really makes you wonder how the main character got in this situation. Also, MothMonster, super creepy i hate him :)
Awesome game my dude! Very solid gameplay all around, nice graphics and soundscape! Using the light to advance was a cool mechanic for sure! I was not expecting that monster at all so great job building the tension! I enjoyed this completely and recommend! Here is my gameplay video, sub and help my channel grow everybody! :)
That was a lot of fun! It's a chilling nightmare with an eerie atmosphere and a haunting sound design, the tension of the unknown when exploring. Great job!
Exhilarating, pulse pounding and sensational experience! Made for a jam? Wow!
The game peaked my interest because of the previous works of the developer. I didn't expect much, considering that the game was made specifically for a jam. Oh, I was so wrong. This short experience offers more than many high quality games do and I think the praise is much necessary and mandatory at this point - fantastic atmosphere, intriguing story, simple gameplay and that chase sequence - what a cheery on top. Awesome work!
I can't wait for more games from the development team. Wish all the best and good luck with the jam.
